Prof. Kithsiri Liyanage has obtained his bachelor’s degree from Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya in 1983 and has obtained his MSc. from University of Tokyo, Japan, in the field of Electrical engineering in 1988. He also holds a Phd from The University of Tokyo Japan, in the field of Electrical Engineering.
Prof. Kithsiri was a dean of the faculty of Engineering of University of Ruhuna from 2003 to 2006 and he has worked as a senior lecturer at Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of University of Peradeniya for more than 15 years. From 2009 to present, he is working as a professor at the department of electrical and electronic engineering of University of Peradeniya. He currently serves as the chair-person of IEEE Sri Lanka Section. His research areas include; communication systems, information security, linear and non-linear systems, sustainability science and energy, environment and smart grids.
Heminda Jayaweera is graduate from University of Moratuwa and he is one of the co-founders at Venture Frontier Lanka, Which is Sri Lanka’s first entrepreneurship platform focused on the development of the complete startup lifecycle through:
Serial Innovator and Entrepreneur, Senior Fellow for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at UoM. Under Heminda’s leadership, Mora Ventures has produced 30 startups in its first 5 months. He is also a co-founder at JENDO innovations, and director of Effective solutions (pvt) Limited.
Dr. Zia Ahmed has been an active IEEE volunteer for more than twenty-five years, serving at Section, Council and Regional levels. He served IEEE Region 10 for ten years in various capacities including R10 Newsletter editor for seven years. Being an R10 EXCOM member for ten years allowed him to interact with members from all over Region 10 and learn immensely about the region and core issues of importance to members. In 2009 an MGA Achievement award recognized his contributions to promote collaboration opportunities for IEEE members in R10. He is currently serving as Chair of the IEEE Australia Council.
Zia holds degrees of B.Sc (Hons), M.Sc and MPhil in Physics and PhD in Electrical Engineering. His professional career spreads over more than 35 years with first ten years in academia and later a career in project management. Serving at senior positions Zia has attended residential training programs for executive leadership responsibilities. His volunteer efforts include motivating young professionals to develop their technical and personal skills for leadership roles and excel in their careers.
Bozenna Pasik-Duncan received the Master's degree in Mathematics from the University of Warsaw in 1970, and the Ph.D. and D.Sc. (Habilitation) degrees from the Warsaw School of Economics in Poland in 1978 and 1986, respectively. Before moving to the University of Kansas (KU) in 1984, she was a faculty member of the Department of Mathematics at Warsaw School of Economics. At KU she is a Professor of Mathematics, a Courtesy Professor of both EECS & AE, and an ITTC Investigator, a Chancellors Club Teaching Professor, and a member of the KU Women's Hall of Fame. She is a Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of IFAC, a recipient of the IEEE Third Millennium Medal, and IEEE CSS Distinguished Member Award. She has served in many capacities in several societies including IEEE CSS Vice President, three term IEEE CSS BoG member, and two term Program Director of SIAM Activity Group on Systems Theory and Control.
Her current service includes Deputy Chair of the CSS TC on Control Education, Chair of the AACC Education Committee, a member of the IFAC TB as the Education Liaison, a member of IEEE WIE Committee and its 2017 Chair, a member of the IEEE SSIT BoG, and a member of the SIAM Activity Group on Systems Theory and Control Conference Steering Committee. She is founder of Women in Control, first chair of IEEE CSS Standing Committee on Women in Control, founder and faculty advisor of Association for Women in Mathematics Student Chapter at KU, founder and coordinator of the MAM/ Outreach Program at KU, and founder and chair of Stochastic Adaptive Control Seminar at KU. She is an Associate Editor of several Journals, and an author and co-author of over 170 technical papers and book chapters. Her research interests are primarily in stochastic systems & stochastic adaptive control and in STEM education. She is a recipient of many awards including IREX Fellow, NSF Career Advancement Award, KU Women of Distinction, Service to Kansas, H.O.P.E.. IREX, Kemper, L. Hay, Morrison, Price, Polish Ministry of Higher Education Award, and recently received the 2016 IEEE EAB Meritorious Achievement Award in Continuing Education.
Rohan pallewatta is presently the executive chairman of lanka harness co; (pvt) ltd., the core business of this company is the manufacture of impact sensors for automobile airbags and seat belts. Customers include toyota, nissan, honda, mitsubishi and mazda of japan, ford, general motors, chrysler of usa, volvo, saab, bmw, aston martin, opel and renault of europe. Mr. Pallewatta rakes in to the country foreign revenue worth over us $ 25 million annually. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the sri lankan economy, the junior chamber international in 2006 awarded him the most prestigious award “the toyp” in the category of business and entrepreneurial accomplishment. An attorney at law by profession, versatile rohan pallewatta holds a b.A. (english special) and has a mba from the university of sri jayawardenapura. He has been a visiting lecturer and an examiner in business law from 2000.
The quality requirement of the product that mr. Pallewatta manufacture is 1 ppm; which means only a single defect would be tolerated for a million produced. The uniqueness in rohan’s achievement is that this is the first time that sri lanka has entered the international market with a 1ppm quality product.
Parkash Lohana (MS., B.E) is an Associate Professor and Head of Computer Science at Usman Institute of Technology Karachi, Sindh- Pakistan. He has more than 25 years extensive experience as an engineer, as faculty, as a head of department, and as a head of academic institution.
Mr. Lohana’s professional interests are Information Systems, Information System Audit, Software Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Electrical Power Engineering, Engineering & Technology Management, and Engineering IT Education. He has presented his research papers in local as well as international conferences held in Pakistan under Higher Education Commission and Pakistan Engineering Council(PEC).
He has served National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) as an electrical engineer for about 9 years on different national electrical engineering projects. He was the recipient of an Honorarium from NESPAK for his extra ordinary services in NESPAK and Excellent Performance award by UIT (Usman Institute of Technology)
He has published two of his articles in IEEE Engineering and Technology Management Review in June and September 2015 issues respectively.
He also served as chair and vice chair of IEEE Karachi Section for about eight years and currently he is representing Pakistan in IEEE Region 10 Executive committee. He holds the portfolio of Coordinator IEEE R10 HTA (Humanitarian Technology Activities) Committee (2017-18).
Dr. Manoharan has obtained a diploma in Electrical Engineering from C N Polytechnic, Vepery, Chennai, Tamilnadu, India. He has obtained his bachelor’s degree from BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore University, Karnataka State, India in the field of Electrical Engineering. He has received his M tech in Polymer Science & Engineering from Anna University, College of Engineering, Guindy and Phd from in Instrumentation-MEMS from Central Instrumentation & Service Laboratory, University of Madras, Anna University Campus. He is a specialist in MEMS, MEMS based Sensor Design, PCB Design, Skill Development Programs, Robotics & Automation, Embedded System Design, Instrumentation & Controls, Journal Paper Evaluating, Inventory Control, Project Planning, Ornithopter Design, Humanoid Robot and Server and Networking.
As a senior member of IEEE, Dr.Manoharan has served the IEEE Madras Section Execom from 2012 to 2018. He has also served as the Chairman of Student Project Funding, IEEE Madras Section 2010-2018. He was the chairman of Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) of the Madras Section from 2012 to 2017. He is the current chairman of IEEE Madras section.
