Innovation Challenge

Teams have to do a presentation about their product/solution together with a technical background of the implementation, to the panel of judges, at the Innovation Challenge Competition at IEEE SS12 2018 Finals on 8th-9th September at NSBM Green University.

After the opening ceremony on 8th morning, Innovation Challenge evaluations will be starting and will continue till 8th evening and will resume after the morning session on 9th.

Each team will have around 8-10 minutes to present their project followed by 4-5 minutes QnA. Presentation schedules will be emailed to the teams before the competition date.

Teams can use the allocated presentation time for a powerpoint presentation, video demonstration of the project or an actual demonstration of the project. Having the actual prototypes or demonstrating or showing videos of your project/solution will be an added advantage during evaluations.

Teams will be provided with the facilities to do the presentation and teams should provide the presentation slides to the organizing committee before the evaluations are started.

Maker Fair

Teams have to demonstrate and exhibit the usage of the developed solution together with a technical background of the implementation, to the panel of judges, at the Maker Fair Competition at IEEE SS12 2018 Finals on 8th-9th September at NSBM Green University.

After the opening ceremony on 8th morning, teams have to set up their exhibits in the exhibition area and exhibition will continue till the closing ceremony on 9th afternoon.

The exhibition will be open to public where undergraduates, students, professionals will visit to see the projects and also judges will evaluate your projects while you are exhibiting.

Total evaluation time will be around 10 minutes per group.

Resources for Maker Fair and Junior Einstein

Each team in Maker Fair and Junior Einstein Competition will be given a dedicated place at the exhibition area with a 1m * 0.5m table and two chairs. Teams can set up their equipment and exhibits there.

Teams are requested to bring the prototype(s) of the system along with all the necessary technical equipment (square pin plug top extension codes for laptops etc.)

WiFi connectivity will be there at the premises, however it is recommended teams have their own internet connection if they need internet connectivity for their project demonstration.

Other than the actual prototypes, teams can also use audio visual aids for demonstrations and teams have to arrange all the resources for that by their own.

Please note that organizers won’t provide any stands or hangings to posters. Attaching or sticking posters on exhibition area walls, pillars etc. is strictly prohibited. If a team plans to bring any x-banners or posters, they are requested to bring stands or mechanisms to display them by their own.

Things to do in Colombo

Sri Lanka’s Capital Colombo, a port city, with a rich colonial heritage, on the Western coast is a potpourri of races, religions and cultures. Colombo displays the best the country has to offer. The city is a contrast itself, with mansions, lush gardens, fine dining options, shopping malls packed with expensive designer brands standing next to urban slums; diesel fumed congested roads and street markets.

Despite its small size just 37.31 km² Colombo offers a varying selection of experience ranging from taking a tuktuk ride, a visit to Pettah market and eating Kottu to playing a round of golf and having high tea at one of the colonial style hotels overlooking the Indian Ocean. With many boutiques filled with international brands and local art and fabrics Colombo is the best place to do the last minute shopping and then it’s best to retire to Galle face, Colombo;s playground for some Kottu or Wade.
